Medical Assist, 768 Main Street (Box 22-1)

Company 22 dispatched class one to 768 Main Street in Lykens for a medical assist. EMS had an extended eta coming from Tremont. Utility 22 responded with 2, Truck 22 with 2, and Chief 22 POV. On arrival, crew initiated patient contact and took initial vitals until the arrival of EMS. They then assisted with transfer of the patient to their unit and were then placed available.
2012
Medical Assist, 100 South West Street (Box 27-1)

At the request of Command 27 and Medic 6, Company 22 dispatched class three to 100 South West Street in Gratz at the Park Terrace Apartments to assist them with extricating a large patient. Truck 22 responded with 6 and Lieutenant 22 POV class three. On arrival, command advised to stage and send manpower and straps to an apartment inside the complex. The crew assisted Rescue 27 and Medic 6 members with removing an extremely obese patient that had fallen in the bathroom and removed him to his bedroom, unhurt. After successfully completing the extrication, the Truck was placed available.

Gas Leak Inside, 610 North Street (Box 22-1)

Companies 22 and 23 dispatched to 610 North Street in Lykens for a report of a gas leak inside a structure. Chief 22 went enroute to the scene POV, Engine 22 responded with 6, Truck 22 went enroute with 5, and Engine and Rescue 23 also responded. The Engine arrived on side A with Engine 23. Truck 22 staged behind Engine 23, and Rescue 23 staged at Market and North Streets. The address was a duplex 2 and one half story property, occupied on one side and not the other. The occupied side called 911 reporting an odor, which upon investigation was found to be diesel fuel. There was no propane service to either side. Entry was made into the un-occupied side and a one gallon spill of diesel fuel was found in the basement, with some product dripped on the steps leading to the first floor. Crews removed carpet and oil soaked items, and used absorbent pads and high-dry to soak up and remove the remainder of the fuel oil. Company 23 was released while command contacted the Realtor of the un-occupied side to update them on the situation. After cleanup, command released the remaining units and the box was placed in service.

Brush Fire, Behind Car Wash (Box 66-11)

Company 22 was dispatched to assist Company 66 for a brush fire in Porter Township, Schuylkill County, in the wooded area along the base of the mountain behind the Car Wash in Sheridan. Engine 22-1 responded with a crew of three, with other members following POV. Tanker 22 responded with a crew of two and was placed available shortly after arriving on the scene. Crews used brush rakes and indian tanks to help extinguish a stubborn brush fire that had spread to several acres before being brought under control. All other Porter Township and Tower City companies were also on the scene along with Dauphin County Companies 23 and 24.

Search Party, Berry Mountain

A search party was organized to search for a missing hunter on Tuesday November 30, 1954. Richard Matter, 25 years old from Lykens, was reported missing at 4 o'clock p.m. A search party of 50 men consisting of State Police, Lykens Firemen, and field workers from the Department of Forestry and Waters combed the Bear Pool Swamp area of Berry Mountain south of Lykens from sundown until 11:30 p.m. Matter became lost while tracking a deer. He was found after six hours, walking on a dirt road many miles from his automobile. He suffered from exhaustion and said he had an "unlucky day."
