Companies 22 and 23 dispatched to 610 North Street in Lykens for a report of a gas leak inside a structure. Chief 22 went enroute to the scene POV, Engine 22 responded with 6, Truck 22 went enroute with 5, and Engine and Rescue 23 also responded. The Engine arrived on side A with Engine 23. Truck 22 staged behind Engine 23, and Rescue 23 staged at Market and North Streets. The address was a duplex 2 and one half story property, occupied on one side and not the other. The occupied side called 911 reporting an odor, which upon investigation was found to be diesel fuel. There was no propane service to either side. Entry was made into the un-occupied side and a one gallon spill of diesel fuel was found in the basement, with some product dripped on the steps leading to the first floor. Crews removed carpet and oil soaked items, and used absorbent pads and high-dry to soak up and remove the remainder of the fuel oil. Company 23 was released while command contacted the Realtor of the un-occupied side to update them on the situation. After cleanup, command released the remaining units and the box was placed in service.
