A dog was successfully rescued from being entrapped under a shed at 647 South Street on December 18, 2009. Wiconisco's Rescue 23 was specially called to aid in the rescue by providing air bags to lift the shed. Pictured here are Matt Basti and Matt Lawrence of Wiconisco with their new friend "Laurel", a Chesapeake Bay Retriever, who had just been rescued from her accidental confinement. Laurel's full name is "Appalachian Mountain Laurel", she's the mother to twenty puppies that live across the United States. During the rescue operation, it was discovered why she went under the shed. As the shed was being lifted, an opossum tried to flee out from under it. The opossum saw all the people out there and went back under. It is assumed that Laurel chased the opossum under the shed and either got stuck or refused to come out without her prize.
