The first fire in 1896 was on Thursday, April 9th at 1:30 o'clock at the house and tin shop of R. Bressler, occupied by Harry Bressler, on the corner of Market and North Second Streets. Both companies responded promptly. Rescue Hose Company made the first connection closely followed by our company. We connected to the plug on the corner of Main and Market Streets.
