At 4:40 AM on October 10, 1998, a first alarm assignment was dispatched for a reported structure fire at 220 Pottsville Street in Wiconisco. This brought to the scene an engine, rescue, and tanker from Station-23 (Wiconisco), an engine, truck, and tanker from Station-22 (Lykens), and a tanker from Station-24 (Williamstown). In addition, an engine from Station-21 (Elizabethville) was sent to replace an out-of-service engine normally sent from Station-24. Chief-23 arrived on scene and reported fire and heavy smoke coming from the attic area of a 2?-story wood frame home. Engine-23 arrived on scene at side-1, with a hydrant directly across the street. After hookup to the hydrant, it was discovered that the hydrant was non-operational. Engine-22 picked up the next available hydrant one block above the fire building and laid in 300 feet of 5-inch supply line and supplied Engine-23. Truck-22 personnel laddered the building and pulled the roof vents while Engine-23 personnel performed initial knockdown, with the fire knocked down in less than 15 minutes. Tankers 22, 23, and 24 stood by. Engine-21 was assigned RIT and stood by on scene.

While doing overhaul, a vehicle accident was reported in Station-22's territory, which was handled by the personal from company-21 as well as Engine-19 (Carsonville). All units went available at 6:39 AM.
