Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #3351

Engine and Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 24-1 box to 217 West Market street in Williamstown for a structure fire. Truck 22 responded with 5, Engine 22 with 4 and Utility 22 with 2. The Truck was advised to access the scene via Railroad street to side A. Unable to get close to the structure the Truck beached and sent crew forward to ladder the building and support suppression efforts. Engine and Utility 22 accessed the scene via Water street where they staged and sent manpower forward. On arrival the properties on either side of the original fire building were also involved at 215, 217 and 219 West Market street. There were a total of 70 foot by 70 foot two and one half story wood frame dwellings with heavy fire on the second floor extending into the attic and eventually venting through the roof. Crews went interior with hand lines and made their way to the second floor. Truck companies from Millersburg (20) and Pine Grove (58) set up on the B and C sides and vented the roof. Additional resources were needed and Command 24 requested the first alarm bringing in numerous companies to assist. Northumberland Engine 65 was relocated to Station 22. The 22 crew members teamed up with crews from 24, 23, 21, 216, 26, 27, Schuylkill 22-11, 22-15, 22-14, 58, 66 and 67 at various times to continue suppression activities until control was marked and overhaul was performed. Crew continued until eventually released by Command.
