Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #3291

Engine and Truck 22 and Engine 23 dispatched class one to 15 South Second Street in Lykens at Rattling Creek Apartments for an automatic fire alarm. Engine 22 responded with 4 and Truck 22 with 4. Engine 22 arrived on side D of a 132 foot by 63 foot 4 story high rise apartment building with normal conditions from the exterior. Alarms and strobes were activated and resident were evacuating the building. Truck 22 arrived on side A and crews were sent to the 3rd floor to investigate a report of an alarm activation. Further investigation found one apartment that had experienced a "culinary mishap" that produced a smoke condition but no fire. Control was marked and Engine 23 was placed in service. The truck crew took a fan to the affected apartment to vent it. After completing the task the residents were allowed entry back into the building and the initial box was cleared. One resident that evacuated to the exterior was experiencing a health issue and the Truck remained behind to provide first aid until EMS from Medic 6-1 arrived. Patient was turned over to EMS and the box was available.
