Engine 22 and Rescue 23 dispatched class one to 15 South Second Street at the Rattling Creek Apartments in Lykens for a one vehicle accident with the car striking a 1000 pound propane tank. Chief 22-1 responded from his home across the alley from the apartments and reported a single vehicle had struck a 1000 pound propane tank and damaged it and that the driver had self extricated. Engine 22 responded with 5 and Utility 22 with 2 and 7 members responded POV to the scene. Rescue 23 was advised to stage at the hydrant at Main and Arlington while Engine 22 prepared to lay a 5 inch line from the hydrant at the old boro swimming pool in the 100 block of south second street to the scene. Chief 22-1 advised to cancel laying because the cylinder had self vented and was now empty. EMS from Medic 6 was advised that the patient was now located in the apartment building where they attended to her. Captain 21 arrived on scene and operating in his capacity as a propane repairman for Koppys secured the tank. PSP also on scene. Command placed Rescue 23 in service and Company 22 members secured the scene until the arrival of Recovery 21. Command then placed the company available.
