Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #3029

Truck 22 dispatched class one on the 27-1 box to 344 East Market Street in Gratz for a structure fire. Multiple calls began reporting a second structure involved and a first alarm was struck. Engine and Utility 22 were added to the call. Truck 22 responded with 7, Engine 22 with 3 and Utility 22 with 2. On arrival of the Truck they took the A/D corner and pulled all the ladders and set them on the D side exposure. The Truck was then re positioned on the A/B side and the aerial went to work with water being supplied by Engine 27. Truck 20 set up on the C side of the structures and was supplied by Engine 26. The initial fire building was a 2 and one half story wood frame single family dwelling fully involved. The D side exposure was a single story rancher with fire into the B side of the structure. The property on the B side of the original fire building across Cherry Street also had some heat damage as well. Crews assisted with fire extinguishment for quite some time on a very warm evening with high humidity. The original fire building was heavily damaged. The rancher had extensive damage to the B side. After the bulk of the heavy fire was knocked down the Truck crew assisted with overhaul. This continued until the Company was released by command 27.
