Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #2812

The 27-4 box dispatched class one to 496 Luxemburg Road in Lykens Township for a sawmill on fire.Truck 22 responded with 7 and Utility 22 with 4 and one member POV to the scene. On arrival of the Truck, they had a one story steel fabricated 100 foot by 500 foot saw mill that was completely involved. The Truck was assigned to the A/D corner where they set up for master stream operations being supplied by Rescue 28 thru a 5 inch line. The Truck flowed master stream operations for well over an hour, darkening down a significant portion of their side of the building. Truck 20 was assigned to the B side and worked on that portion of the building at the same time. Crews assisted with pulling metal sheeting from the side of the building and extinguishment of visible pockets of fire. With both Zone 2 Trucks committed to this fire, Company 20 relocated Dauphin Truck 91 to their quarters while Company 22 relocated Schuylkill Truck 58-25 from Pine Grove to Station 22 while also placing Company 24 on standby in their own quarters. After the bulk of the fire was knocked down, an excavator was brought in to tear out the collapsed tin roof and expose pockets of fire for extinguishment. Crews assisted with working the pile until eventually released by command 27.
