Engine 22, Engine and Rescue 23, Engine 24, Rescue 21 and Truck 20 dispatched class one to the Alfa Laval Thermal Plant at 300 Chestnut Street for a reported structure fire. Chief 22 responded POV, and Engine 22 responded with 6. On the arrival of the Chief, he found a dust collector bin on fire in the center of the plant, and instructed Engine 22 to lay in from the hydrant at Hanna and Chestnut Streets and send manpower with PWs to the center of the plant. Chief 22-2, on board Engine 22, messed up the assignment and had the engine lay in from the hydrant at Lehr and Hanna Streets. Engine 23 picked up the hydrant at Hanna and Chestnut and pulled a hand line into the plant to the dust bin. Crews from 22 and 23 extinguished the fire using PWs and overhauled the dust bin with hand tools. Rescue 21 and Engine 24 stood by outside. After control was marked, dispatch advised command of a second incident in the Borough (see call number 20) and Command released Engine 24, Rescue 21, and Truck 20 to respond to the other incident while crews from 22 and 23 cleaned up the call at this location. After the filters to the dust bin were removed to the outside, and plant personnel started up their ventilation system, command placed the box available.
