Box 21-2 was dispatched for a house struck by lightning. This brought companies 21, 20 and 26 on the initial dispatch. With reports of multiple calls and a smoke column, command 21 requested the full first alarm assignment, which added Company 29 for RIT, Engine 22, and Tanker 216. Engine 22 responded with 6, and on arrival, was assigned to assist with laddering the building and horizontal ventilation. Additional manpower was needed, which brought Engine 23, Engine 27, and Truck 22 to the scene. The Truck responded with 7, and 3 additional members responded for a total of 16 members on scene. Engine 24 was relocated to Station 21, and Schuylkill Engine/Rescue 650 was relocated to Station 22. Company 38 relocated to Station 23. Company 28 was also placed on standby in quarters, and Company 37 relocated to Station 29. During this event, additional fire calls were dispatched in Gratz, Berrysburg, and Halifax as a result of the lightning storm in the area. Crews worked overhaul on the second floor and assisted with tarping the first floor. The building suffered extremely heavy damage to the upper floors with the roof completely burned off on the A and B sides. Crews continued to assist with overhaul until released by command.
