Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #1291

Company 22 was included in a dispatch for a box 23-1 call at 202 Oak Street, for a stove fire. The caller said "My stove is on fire" and hung up. Dauphin County dispatched Companies 23, 22, and 24. Engine 22 responded first with a crew of six under the command of Lieutenant 22-1. As Engine 22 was going past station 23, County called and advised that the caller called back, this time from 525 North Street in Lykens, saying his stove was on fire. County asked Engine 22 to check out that address. Lieutenant 22-1 told them they were almost on the scene at 202 Oak Street. Engine 23 went responding with a crew of four. Tanker 22 went responding with a crew of two under the command of Chief 22-1. Upon hearing them advise of a possible new location of 525 North Street, Captain 22 called on advising that he would check out the North Street address. Captain 22 went down the street, and found that 525 North street is a vacant lot. Tanker 22 diverted from going to Oak street and swung down North Street and arrived on scene. No one on North Street called 911. Engines 22 and 23 on scene at Oak street found that no one from that location had called either. Tanker 22 then went to 525 North Second Street to investigate, and found that 525 North Second street was the middle of the school playground. Engine 24 was instructed to stage at Station 23. After confering with Chief 22-2 on scene on North Street, the box was placed in service. No fire was found at either location. The Police Department arrived at North street and was informed about what was going on. They were going to check around to investigate the incident. County's callback to the initial caller produced a "number disconnected" message. All units went available.
