Company-22 and Company-24 were dispatched to assist Company-23 on a house fire at 200 Wiconisco Street in Wiconisco Township. The 2?-story wood frame balloon construction single home, was struck by lightning, causing the fire. Engine-23 connected to a hydrant in the 100 block of Wiconisco Street and took side-A/B, and the crew stretched a line in the front door. Engine-22 took side-A/D, and the crew stretched another line from Engine-23 inside the home through the side porch on side-D to the second floor. Truck-22 parked in the 100 block of Wiconisco Street, and the crew assisted the Engine-22 crew laddering the building and going interior to check for extensions. Engine-24 staged at Zealot and Wiconisco Streets and sent a crew inside. Company-21 and Company-20 were staged at Zealot and Pottsville Streets. There was smoke pushing from the A/B corner on two floors. Crews opened up the walls inside and pulled ceilings to dig out the fire. The two man crew from Medic-6, packed up with full gear (in fire attack mode), went to the attic and did horizontal ventilation. Fire traveled in the walls up the A/D corner from the ground floor to the attic, but was kept confined to that area. Extensive overhaul was done, with crews rotating out on a regular basis. There was great teamwork among the crews, with an excellent stop by Company-23.
