April 11, 2005

Engine-22 and Tanker-22 were dispatched to assist Company-23 on a brush fire located at the Meadowbrook Coal Company. Engine-23 on scene reported a 25 foot by 25 foot area of brush on fire, spreading close to a structure. Engine-22 responded with a crew of four. Tanker-22 responded with a crew of two. Chief-22 responded POV. Upon arrival, crews pulled handlines and set up a porta tank to supply engines on the scene with water. Tanker-24 and Tanker-21 were special called to assist with tanker shuttle. Water was drawn from a hydrant in Lykens on South Second Street near the swimming pool. Extensive mopup and overhaul of the area was performed by the crews. Victor-15 (PA Dept of Forestry) was also on the scene. Crews extinguished hot spots, cleaned up apparatus, and returned in service.
