Liberty Hose Co. No. 2 - Incident Detail #1127

Companies 22, 23, and 24 were dispatched to 519 Main Street in Lykens Borough for reported smoke in a second floor apartment. Engine-22 arrived on scene, took side-1/2. Truck-22 arrived and took side-1/4. Engine-23 staged at the hydrant in front of 545 Main Street. Engine-24 was placed in service. Company personnel entered the structure, evacuated occupants of the first floor apartment, and proceeded to the second floor apartment. The source of smoke was found to be a pan of beans on the stove that had been left un-attended. The apartment was ventilated using positive pressure ventilation, and the occupants were advised to re-install all the batteries to their smoke alarms that they had removed during the event.
