Fire alarm sounded at 3 o'clock p.m. The company responded and found the fire at a property belonging to the Bueck Estate, the house at the rear of the lot, the eastern half occupied by John Buffington, and the western half occupied by the J.B. Club. Connections were made at the corner of South Second and Pine Streets and the corner of Main and Pine Streets. The fire originated in Mr. Buffington's kitchen, where the stove pipe passed through the tin roof, and was very difficult to get at. But, the company soon had the two streams playing on it, and the fire was soon under control. Damages were $125. Mr. Buffington's furniture was saved, as was that of the J.B. Club, but as the building was soaked with water, it was unfit for occupancy, and Mr. Buffington moved into John Gonder's new house on East Main Street.
